A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
